Z is for Zeke Pedrad

imageThis is my last A-Z Challenge post! I had a lot of fun, but at the same time, I’m glad it’s over. I probably wouldn’t feel this way if I hadn’t missed a week of posts, but life happens. (Zeke’s real name is Ezekiel, but I completely forgot that until RIGHT now, so he’s going here.)

Book(s) He’s In: The Divergent Trilogy by Veronica Roth.

Favorite Characteristic(s): Zeke is the older, more serious version of Uriah. Not that he’s not amusing. I think my favorite thing about him, though, is the relationship between him and Uriah. They get along similarly to how I interact with my siblings. I’ve heard some people say that it’s unrealisitc to have families in books that get along so well, but I think it’s a matter of perspective. To me, it seems unusual to have so many books where the protagonist avoids their family or where a family isn’t really mentioned.

Favorite Quote(s): “Careful, brother, or I might not tighten your straps enough and then, splat!” (They’re going zip lining.) This basically the only Zeke-Uriah quote I could find that wasn’t an entire coversation, but their dialogue is the best.

Y is for Yeva Belikova

image

Again, literally the only character I could think of who’s name starts with Y. These last couple letters are near impossible.

Book(s) She’s In: Blood Promise by Richelle Mead. Blood Promise is the fourth book in the Vampire Academy series.

Favorite Characteristic(s): She is a very strong character. Maybe not physically because she’s not exactly young. (She’s Dimitri’s grandmother.) However, she’s stubborn and no-nonsense. She kind of reminds me of Frank’s grandmother in Son of Neptune. (That’s not relevant, but I can’t help but make the connection.) Plus *MINOR SPOILERS* She pretends not to know how to speak English, which was pretty amusing. *END SPOILERS*

Favorite Quote(s): “You avoid a lot of annoying conversation when you don’t speak the language.”  and “In my dreams, you shone. You burned like a star, and I saw you as a warrior, someone who could do great deeds.”

X is for Xander

image

Okay, so technically his name is Alexander, but the only person who calls him that is his grandmother, soooo. . . . I’m counting it.

Book(s) He’s In: The Distance Between Us by Kasie West.

Favorite Characteristic(s): Well, there is the fact that his name starts with X. Kind  of. Other than that though, I think I would explain Xander as adorably oblivious. He’s a great guy, but at times he seems stupid-rich. Like when he mentions spending $30 on socks, and not knowing what a colander is. But he gets her hot chocolate and muffins from Eddie’s, and it’s adorable and kind of makes up for all that.

Favorite Quote(s): “I didn’t realize we were playing a game.” It’s kind of like their always, except to a lesser extent.

W is for The Weasley Twins

image

I could have done the Weasly twins for F and G, but I wanted to do them together. Unlike somebody, (I’m looking at you J.K. Rowling.) I don’t think there should be one without the other. It’s just kind of depressing.

Books They’re In: The Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling.

Favorite Characteristics: They’re the best. Duh. They’re funny and can always make people laugh, but they’re also genuine and good. Well, depending on your definition of good. But I’m sure most of you don’t need an explanation on why they’re so awesome.

Favorite Quotes: Gahhhhhhhh. There’s so many. Basically everything they say. However, I will try.
Favorite Fred quote: “I’m not Fred. I’m George. Honestly woman, you call yourself our mother? Can’t you tell I’m George? [….] Only joking, I am Fred.”
Favorite George quote: What are Fred and I, next door neighbors?” when Molly says everyone in the family ahd been a prefect.
Favorite Weasley Twin scene: When they leave they school in the fifth book. I love that part.

V is for Violet Willoughby

image

Book(s) She’s In: Haunting Violet by Alyxandra Harvey. My favorite ghost story, and my favorite historical romance. Of course, I don’t read a lot in those genres, but this book makes me want to.

Favorite Characteristic(s): Violet is very forward-thinking for her time, which always adds to a story. She is a reader, which is always relatable. Also, her narrative is hilarious. She can make me laugh in the middle of a quiet room. Of course, it’s an Alyxandra Harvey book, so I would expect nothing less.

Favorite Quote(s): “I tried not to look as if I was hiding a handsome young lad under the mattress.” I find it incredibly amusing to imagine Colin hiding under Violet’s bed. Awkwardness is so fun to laugh at. In books. In life, it sucks.

U is for Uriah Pedrad

image

Uriah is the only U name I could think of, but even if he wasn’t, let’s be honest, he’d still be my favorite.

Book(s) He’s In: The Divergent trilogy by Veronica Roth.

Favorite Characteristic(s): Uriah can always lighten the mood. He’s a person anyone would like to hang out with (or at least I would.) Also, in a dystopian world, Uriah seemed more relatable than a lot of characters. I could especially relate to his family dynamic. I wasn’t a huge fan of Tris, so Uriah was probably my favorite character in the series.

Favorite Quote(s): “So the thing we’re not talking about. You almost died, a sadistic pansycake saved you, and now we’re all waging some serious war with the factionless as allies.” and basically any scene with him and Zeke. Also, “I provide much needed eye candy.”

T is for Trey Jaurez

image

Book(s) He’s In: The Bloodlines series by Richelle Mead. I don’t believe he is in every book, but off the top of my head, I could not tell you which ones he’s not in.

Favorite Characteristic(s): Trey is a great friend. I mean, I’m sure he’s a great boyfriend, cousin, etc. as well, but he is a really good friend. He is in many ways, a male version of Sydney. I can tell he’s smarter than he acts. Also *SPOILERS FROM THE GOLDEN LILY*  He was always as helpful as he could be, even when it meant going against the Warriors. I mean they’re sick and twisted, but they’re practically his family. *END SPOILERS*

Favorite Quote(s): “One day she’s throwing a book at me. The next, we’re making out behind the library.” and “We take everything for granted, but when I’m with Angeline, I see the world through new eyes. She makes my world better. It’s why she’s so great.” Seriously, him and Angeline are the cutest.

S is for . . .

image

S is going to be a top three, because I have a list of nine off the top of my head. And because these are all great characters.

Sydney Sage *Spoilers, kind of* I know if you’ve read Silver Shadows, you’re like, “Brooke, no. That is not her name”, but I assure you, it is merely an attempt to save people from spoilers. I definitely did not forget. *End spoilers*

Book(s) She’s In: Sydney first appears in Blood Promise, the fourth book of the Vampire Academy series. She also plays a big part in Last Sacrifice, book six. Also, since Richelle Mead is awesome, in the entire Vampire Academy spin-off series, Bloodlines, Sydney is protagonist.

Favorite Characteristic(s): Sydney is really an amazing character. Because she’s a Richelle Mead character, she is a strong character who undergoes great character development. She is also exceptionally smart, and although I’m not half as smart as her, I can relate. When we first met Sydney, I thought she was kind of ridiculous, for lack of better word, but that she had potential. And boy, did Richelle Mead use that potential. I always love a character with good character development, and while I think parts of Sydney will never change, she definitely has that.

Favorite Quote(s): Again, six books written by Richelle Mead. Again, here are the links to the goodreads page and daily quotes. But how can you hear “Centrum permanebit” and not get all the feels?

Severus Snape

Book(s) He’s In: Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling.

Favorite Characteristic(s): Snape’s story gives you all the feels. I know that James and Lily were incredibly in love, but I can’t not ship Snape and Lily. I’ve tried. It’s never going to happen. I love a character with a good story.

Favorite Quote(s): “Always” No explanation needed.

Sapphire (Saf)

Book(s) He’s In: Bitterblue by Kristin Cashore. If you haven’t read these books, you need to. I say that a lot, but seriously, read them. Everyone in the world, should read these books.

Favorite Characteristic(s): What I like about Saf is very similar to what Bitterblue likes about Saf. I know that only makes sense if you’ve read the books, but I’m not really sure how to explain it, I like that he’s different from so many of the other characters and that he’s a commoner, and that he’s just so realistically human.

Favorite Quote(s): “I’m afraid of plenty of things,” he said. “I just do them anyway.”

R is for Rose Hathaway

imageMy apologies for not posting this yesterday. I had a very busy day that included a birthday lunch, baking, and pretending to work on a school project when really my dad did most of the work because I don’t really know my way around tools. I basically just ended up handing him stuff.

Books She’s In: She is the protagonist of the Vampire Academy series, and she occasionally shows up in the Bloodlines series as well.

Favorite Characteristic(s): Rose is a really strong character in that she can hold her own, whether the fight be physical or verbal. Also, she seems very realistic (despite the half-vampire thing, of course). Like many of Richelle Mead’s characters, she has realistic character development. She had realistic flaws. The Adrian-Rose-Dimitri love triangle, got me incredibly frustrated, especially at her, because she did not handle that situation well, but it seems realistic, again, that not everything ends well, and people make bad decisions. Adrian being collateral damage though? I was so not okay with that.

Favorite Quotes: Six books. There are six books with her narration, all of which showcase wit, deep emotion, and everything that makes Rose such a great character. So, like I did with Percy Jackson, I will now direct you to the goodreads quotes page, and my daily quotes featuring her. My daily quotes likely include the ones that I consider favorites, Better suggestion though? Read the books. Seriously, if you haven’t, I don’t know where you’ve been.

Q is for Quinn Drake

image

Book(s) He’s In: The Drake Chrinicles by Alyxandra Harvey. Out for Blood is the only book with his narration. It is also a great book. Just saying.

Favorite Characteristic(s): Well, he’s a Drake brother, which pretty much says it all. He’s also probably the most cocky Drake brother. My favorite thing about him (other than his imagined hotness, of course) is that he’s impressively loyal and has a lot of good meaningful qualities, and he knows it. He’s not obnoxiously confident, but he’s not exactly modest either. But seriously, his loyalty is a really big thing as well.

Favorite Quote: “With great hotness comes great responsibility.” It’s the unofficial Drake brothers motto.
