F is for Foster Evans

image

There are surprisingly few characters whose names start with F. I don’t like it. But it was still a toss up between two characters. However, I just really felt that Foster needed recognition.

Book(s) He’s In: The Story of Awkward by R.K. Ryals. He’s only in this book, because it’s a standalone.

Favorite Characteristic: To be honest, he kind of comes off as a jerk. Especially in the beginning. But I warmed up to him. Obviously as he is my “F”. My favorite thing about Foster is that he felt more real than the other characters in the book. And in most books, honestly. (That might be becasue so many of my favorite characters are vampires or werewolves, but what can I say.) He wasn’t perfect, but he wasn’t as awkward or unusual as Perri and the rest of the characters.

Favorite Quote: This was hard. Partly because his actions speak way louder than his words, and his comebacks are way better than anything else, but mostly because I lost all of my highlights and bookmarks on my kindle app. And there were a lot of them. It was a very long process, and very important. And I am livid. But, since I have to come up with sometLhing, and I’m too busy to re-read the entire book, this is what I thought of. “He picked up the sketchbook and laid it in my lap. “Quit hiding behind these. Draw yourself. Don’t make it perfect. Make it awkward, as awkward as you think you are. If you were perfect, you wouldn’t be interesting.”

E is for Eddie Castile

image

I feel like Eddie is never in the spotlight, and that saddens me. He’s a minor character in Vampire Academy, and a minor character in Bloodlines. But he’s such an amazing character.

Books He’s In: Vampire Academy and Bloodlines series by Richelle Mead. Like I mentioned, he’s a minor character in both. I think that means he deserves his own short story. Hint, hint, Richelle Mead.

Favorite Characteristic(s): Eddie has all of the qualities of a good gaurdian. Watchfulness, loyalty, fierceness, etc. But I can’t help but feel bad for him because he’s the one everything happens to. *SPOILERS* His best friend dies while he was there. Physically at least. Then he feels he needs to watch Rose, because Rose and Mason were dating when Mason died. And let’s just say, only Dimitri is equipped to deal with Rose. Then, he falls for Jill. And she dies on his watch. But, she’s brought back, and he gets a second chance, and there’s all the drama that comes with that. But wait! There’s more! Because it’s not like he hasn’t been through enough yet. So, of course, he’s there when Sydney is kidnapped by the Alchemist. And she tricks him into thinking everything’s going to be okay. THEN, Jill is kidnapped, just as they start to finally come around to like each other. UGH. *END SPOILERS* All in all, Richelle Mead is just not very nice to Eddie. She does give him a happy ending though, so bonus points.

Favorite Quote: All of my favorite quotes from Eddie don’t seem to make sense in context. Plus, he’s not very vocal in Bloodlines. So instead, a quote that is very telling, in my opinion. “I’mm not trying to smother you. I just can’t have anything happen to you. Not again.”

D is for Deacon St. Delphi

image

I debated between a couple for this one. (Again.) But I love Deacon. I love the St. Delphi brothers. They’re my faves.

Books He’s In: The Covenant series by Jennifer L. Armentrout. He’s one of my favorite characters in this series. Like I said, him and Aiden. (And Caleb.)

Favorite Characerisitc: He’s so different. He’s not the popular one, or the LGBT character, or the character with the damaged past, but he’s a blend of all of those things. And he does it all with amazing charisma. Also *SPOILERS* (Brittany, that means you, too.) Him and Luke are the best.

Favorite Quote: “Just saying, I have a lot in common with dolphins.” or “That’s true love right there”, when they’re talking about green Skittles. I don’t know, he has a lot of awesome lines.

C is for . . .

image

Remember how I warned you about a Top Ten list? Well, I could have done that for A, but I refrained. I could’ve done it for C as well, but I narrowed it down to three. I had to cut a lot of people out for this one. However, since there are three of them, the desriptions mihgt need to be a bit more brief. *Also, NONE OF THESE ARE IN ORDER. IF I COULD PUT THEM IN ORDER, THIS WOULDN’T BE A TOP THREE*

1. Crickett Bell from Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins
Favorite Characteristic: He’s a very consistent character, I feel. He’s incredibly understanding and the fact that he waits for Lola like he does. . . *melts*
Favorite Quote: His story about Lola and the stars. It’s really long, but I feel like it’s necessary to have the whole hing there.
“Once upon a time, there was a girl who talked to the moon. And she was mysterious and she was perfect, in that way that girls who talk to moons are. In the house next door, there lived a boy. And the boy watched the girl grow more and more perfect, more and more beautiful with each passing year. He watched her watch the moon. And he began to wonder if the moon would help him unravel the mystery of the beautiful girl. So the boy looked into the sky. But he couldn’t concentrate on the moon. He was too distracted by the stars. And it didn’t matter how many songs or poems had already been written about them, because whenever he thought about the girl, the stars shone brighter. As if she were the one keeping them illuminated.
One day, the boy had to move away. He couldn’t bring the girl with him, so he brought the stars. When he’d look out his window at night, he would start with one. One star. And the boy would make a wish on it, and the wish would be her name.
At the sound of her name, a second star would appear. And then he’d wish her name again, and the stars would double into four. And four became eight, and eight became sixteen, and so on, in the greatest mathematical equation the universe had ever seen. And by the time an hour had passed, the sky would be filled with so many stars that it would wake the neighbors. People wondered who’d turned on the floodlights.
The boy did. By thinking about the girl.”

2. Cristian Ozera from the Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead
Favorite Characteristic: His snark. Ohmygod, Christian Ozera made me laugh so much in that series. But it’s not like he’s all snark and witty quips. He has his adorable moments, and he’s really understanding. I feel like he would be the best best friend. He is a really good friend to the main character as well. But even when he’s being sweet and understanding, he still makes it funny.
Favorite Quote: I really like the quote about Little Dragomirs, and official council business. (If you’ve read the book, you know what I’m talking about.) But I think my favorite is “If you weren’t so psychotic, you’d be fun to hang around” or “I love pity parties. I wish I’d brough the hats.”

3. Charles Cornick from the Alpha and Omega series by Patricia Briggs
Favorite Characteristic: Umm, he’s Charles? I love that he’s so strong, but throughout the series you see the softer side of him. I love how he would do anything for the people he loves. He’s not reallya book crush for me, because he’s way older (even if you forget the fact that he’s a werewolf), but I still love him in a totally platonic way.
Favorite Quote: “Fortunately, he’d found that most people were easy to locate at five thirty in the morning.” or  “Charles preferred his deer to taste like meat and his pancakes to look like pancakes. Brother Wolf thought he was too picky. Brother Wolf was probably right.”

B is for Beckendorf

image

I know some of you might be mentally objecting, because Beckendorf’s real name is Charles Beckendorf, but it is surprisingly hard to think of characters whose names start with B. At least from my bookshelf. And besides, who calls Beckendorf Charles? Nobody. Ever. (Unless you count Silena calling him Charlie, because really, that’s a pet name.)

Books He’s In: Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan: He was a seriously minor charcter in this series, but I really liked him. He seemed almost like a big brother to Percy at times (Not literally because he’s a Hephaestus kid, but still.) I really liked the short story with him, Percy, and Annabeth I feel like that’s when you really get to see how he is at camp.

Favorite Characteristic: Like I mentioned earlier, he kind of comes off as brotherly, and he’s just such a genuinely good person.

Favorite Quote: “Who knows with girls. Give me a haywire dragon any day.” or “A girl starts trying to kill you, you know she’s into you.”

A is for Adrian Ivashkov

image

Let’s be completely honest here. None of you are surprised, right? I had a list with, like, a dozen characters off the top of my head. But, it’s Adrian. He is my ultimate everything.

Books He’s In: Bloodlines series by Richelle Mead
Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead (excluding book one)

Favorite Characteristic: The way he is in his relationships. He’s incredibly loyal. He’s the cutest when it comes to Jill, and him and Sydney. . . *melts*. Also, the character development shown from Frosbite to The Ruby Circle is astonishing.

Favorite Quote: Adrian is known for his witty charm, so the first quotes that come to mind are 1) his ringtone and 2) Pretty much everything he says in Bloodlines and The Golden Lily. But, I love Sydrian, so . . . “I tried to be a better person for her– but it was to impress her, to get her to want me. But when I’m around you, I want to be better because… well, because it feels right. Because I want to. You make me want to become something greater than myself. I want to excel. You inspire me in every act, every word, every glance. I look at you, and you’re like… like light made into flesh. […] You have no clue how beautiful you are or how brightly you shine.” (The Golden Lily) *melts*
